Located in the Loire Valley, the Coteaux de l’Aubance appellation produces exceptional sweet white wines since the 17th century. This small appellation is located about 15 kilometers south of Angers, the nearest city.
The wines of Coteaux de l’Aubance are made from Chenin Blanc grapes that are harvested late, in October or November, when the grapes have reached a high level of sugar. The mild and humid climate of the Loire Valley favors the development of noble rot, which contributes to the richness and complexity of the wines.
Today, around 50 producers work on the steep slopes of Coteaux de l’Aubance (not all of them are featured on the map), producing sweet white wines characterized by aromas of ripe fruit, honey, and spices. These wines are appreciated for their richness and balance between acidity and sweetness.
