The Bourgueil vineyard is located in the Loire Valley wine region, more precisely in the department of Indre-et-Loire. This wine-growing region mainly produces red wines, made from the Cabernet Franc grape variety, which are appreciated for their fruitiness and elegance.
Bourgueil is one of the best-known protected designations of origin (AOP) in the region, with more than 150 producers (many of them are on the map). The terroir is particularly suited to the production of red wines, thanks to its clay-limestone soil and a temperate climate.
The history of Bourgueil dates back to the Gallo-Roman era, but it was in the Middle Ages that the town acquired a certain notoriety thanks to its wine production. Today, Bourgueil is a popular destination for wine lovers who can discover the different facets of the appellation there.
Among the most renowned producers of the appellation, we can mention the Domaine de la Chevalerie, Frédéric Mabileau, or the Domaine de la Butte. Each of them offers different wines, with characteristics specific to their region.
