What are the best years for Chinon wines?
Chinon wine vintage chart
After four disappointing vintages of Chinon since 2010, the revival took place in 2014. With a crescendo rise until 2018, which ranks among the best vintages of Chinon since the beginning of the decade.
Magnificent. All agree on the quality of the 2018 vintage. Served by a hot and dry summer, the harvest was early. Grapes bearing an exceptional richness in sugars. In the glass, the wines are expressive, balanced and simply delicious.
2017 is a very beautiful year for Chinon wines. The only downside is the spring frosts which affected certain parts of the vineyard. A vintage of fine quality, fruity and generous. Aging potential for the most robust wines
The quality of this 2016 vintage is beautiful, not to say very beautiful. Generous and aromatic wines thanks to a glorious mont of September. But wines were rare : the episode of severe frost at the end of April cut volumes by 50% in Chinon!
2015 has been the warmest year for … over 50 years. A solar vintage, but with well distributed heat. Round, full, balanced wines where the aromas are expressed with intensity. A vintage sealed with generosity.
