In the Bourgueil appellation, the red wines of the last four vintages have been particularly exceptional. 2018 in particular, a vintage in which the red wines of the Loire valley were marked by the solar character of the year: wines with intense colors, darker than usual, giving notes of ripe black fruits, and more tannins on the palate.
In Bourgueil, it is the plots with the presence of limestone in the sub-soil that have allowed the wines to express their greatest potential. For those who know the Bourgueil terroir, we are talking about the vines located on the northern slopes of the appellation, on the heights of villages such as Benais or Restigné.
