Our take on Domaine Mérieau
The Domaine Mérieau is located in the small village of St Julien de Chédon, south of the city of Blois and its famous castle.The estate, managed by Jean-François Mérieau, extends over nearly 35 hectares planted with grape varieties of Gamay, Cot (Malbec), Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Noir, Pineau d’Aunis and Chardonnay. In an area where Sauvignon is usually king, the Domaine Mérieau produces as much red as white wines!
This varied production comes from young and old vines: up to 100 years old for some Pineau d’Aunis vines. The work of the vineyard is entirely manual and sustainable farming.The Jean-françois Mérieau winery is one of these simple quality wineries we love the Loire Valley for : a spirit of conviviality, (great) wines and authenticity.
