Domaine de la Chevalerie

Located in Restigné, one of the towns belonging to the Bourgueil appellation, the Domaine de la Chevalerie is an established producer in the Loire Valley Region. Following the principles of organic farming, the children of the illustrious Pierre Caslot perpetuate a centuries-old tradition, with cuvées reflecting their terroirs.Here the plural is important because the Domaine de la Chevalerie is one of the rare vineyards where the tasting takes you through a series of terroirs and vintages in a logical order and which leaves no doubt about the differences of each plot (or “parcelle” as they say in French) : Galichets, Bretêche, Chevalerie, Busardières, Peu Muleau…With this winemaking approach by the plot, the Caslot’s are in search of more finesse and freshness, for a more subtle Bourgueil style, without the traditional trace of rusticity.During a long wine tasting session, you will undoubtedly end up tasting the “Vin de Garde”. If the name may seem less poetic than that of the other cuvées, do not be fooled by appearances. A unique wine, made with the best grapes from the Galichets and Chevalerie plots. You will fall under the spell of this cuvée which combines richness and freshness.The estate was certified as organic producers by Ecocert in 2008 and as biodynamic by Demeter in 2010.
